There's something special about creating a composition for a celebration. A family is bringing someone new into their home, and this shows the little girls wish. This painting helps commemorate overcoming challenges in life with our eyes fixed on our dreams before us.
This painting was very challenging being so much detail on a 12x16 canvas, yet the overall effect proved to be worth it.
My friend and I threw an Anne of Green Gables themed baby shower for a sweet friend of ours and I painted this for her girls room. This painting is of a scene from the Anne of Green Gables movie. This painting is a lot different then my usual subject matter, but I enjoyed painting it and most of all I am glad that it worked well for the room. One thing this painting brought to my attention is I need to continue to practice painting landscapes so I can get better at them. Here is a picture of the painting in the room, I love how it looks with the color of the wall and the lighting is better in this picture. If you are interested in having a painting done for you or for a gift please contact me. I am reasonably priced and can work within your budget to make a great painting for whatever you may need. BEFORE: This woman wasn't pleased being so small against the pitcher. Having your work critiqued can be quite difficult at times. I had the opportunity to work with a writer who gives the best constructive feedback I have had in a really long time. She didn't nit pick, but rather gave helpful advice and things I could change in the paintings. AFTER: Painted over with her face instead of showing her entire self. Having to complete these paintings so quickly having her help was essential in getting the works done. I was asked by the Thomasville Center for the Arts to complete this project. Before I left to go to Taiwan they asked to see my progress on the paintings. Unfortunately they weren't able to see them in person, but I was able to send them photos of the paintings. Most of the Southern collectors they know very well and some of the women I am working with are actually collectors themselves. While the Center is not commissioning me to paint these p
I recently painted a series inspired by Anne of Green Gables. A buyer from out of state commissioned these after finding this very blog and seeing my previous work. She has commissioned five additional compositions containing scenes from the book. I painted the work twice. I am too appalled by the first one I made to show it to you. Let it be said that it is just horrible and I am glad I started over. Thankfully the other paintings started better than this one. Close up of face Detail of the flowers I am very happy with how the finished piece turned out and I am excited to be working on the rest of these paintings. I love this book so much, it makes me want to get the book out and get reading (when I should probably be painting!).
