Isaiah 52:7

 
My friend is having a baby girl and when I asked her if I could paint her something for their family.  She decided on Isaiah 52:7 and the beginning part of the verse for the painting.

 I'm really happy with how it turned out. I ended up painting over the words once before getting to what it looks like now. I'm glad I did, it looks much better than my first try!
This was my first painting since I had surgery on my right hand and elbow and it was harder than I thought it would be to grip my brush for long period of time. I hope with more painting and practice my arm will get stronger. I'm so thankful for the opportunity to paint this for such a sweet family.
Painting at the shower. This shower was the most fun baby shower I have ever attended. So blessed by all the wonderful ladies that came.

BEFORE: This woman wasn't pleased being so small against the pitcher.  Having your work critiqued can be quite difficult at times. I had the opportunity to work with a writer who gives the best constructive feedback I have had in a really long time. She didn't nit pick, but rather gave helpful advice and things I could change in the paintings. AFTER: Painted over with her face instead of showing her entire self. Having to complete these paintings so quickly having her help was essential in getting the works done. I was  asked by the Thomasville Center for the Arts to complete this project. Before I left to go to Taiwan they asked to see my progress on the paintings. Unfortunately they weren't able to see them in person, but I was able to send them photos of the paintings. Baby girl painting

My friend and I threw an Anne of Green Gables themed baby shower for a sweet friend of ours and I painted this for her girls room.  This painting is of a scene from the Anne of Green Gables movie.   This painting is a lot different then my usual subject matter, but I enjoyed painting it and most of all I am glad that it worked well for the room. One thing this painting brought to my attention is I need to continue to practice painting landscapes so I can get better at them.   Here is a picture of the painting in the room, I love how it looks with the color of the wall and the lighting is better in this picture. Paintings for two of my friends new babies

I recently finished these paintings for two of my friends who are expecting babies soon. My friends told me the colors of the babies rooms and bedding, what they liked and didn't like and this is what I came up with.  They are both painted with oil paint on canvas. My friend wanted a painting that her kids could grow with and not be something that is only good for a couple years while they are babies.  Since her kids may share a room she didn't want the new babies name on it. My other friend gave me a verse she would like on the painting. Her babies room doesn't have a specific theme, but this elephant and basketball incorporated a fun animal her kids will like and her husband loves basketball.
